Subarnachar upazila
Subarnachar Upazila is an upazila in Noakhali district in Bangladesh. Noakhali Sadar Upazila was divided into two upazilas in 2008 and one upazila was named Subarnachar Upazila. The name of the other upazila is Kabirhat upazila.
Subarnachar upazila is located 20 km south of Noakhali Sadar. It is bounded on the north by Kompaniganj Upazila and Noakhali Sadar Upazila, on the west by Ramgati Upazila of Laxmipur District, on the south by Hatia Upazila and on the east by Sandwip Upazila of Chittagong District.
ccording to the 2011 census conducted by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, the total population of Subarnachar Upazila is 2,69,514. Of these, 1,43,532 are males and 1,45,982 are females.
There are 7 unions in Subarnachar upazila. Administrative activities of the entire upazila are under Char Jabbar Police Station.
Literacy rate and average literacy 32.83%; Males constitute 36.50% of the population and females 26.15%. Number of educational institutions. Educational institutions: college 2, secondary school 17, primary school 60, community primary school 13, madrasa 12.
